Crypto QR code

What it is, how it works, and when to use it

A Crypto Payment QR Code lets users send cryptocurrency to your wallet instantly. Instead of copying long wallet addresses — which often leads to mistakes — scanning the QR fills in your address automatically.
If you add an amount, the wallet app will also prefill the exact value to send.

This makes crypto payments safer, faster, and error-free. Perfect for donations, invoices, personal transfers, online creators, freelancers, merchants, or anyone who receives crypto regularly.

How to create a Crypto QR Code

The crypto generator on SQR includes three fields:

1. Coin

Choose which cryptocurrency the QR should be generated for.
Supported coins include:

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Elrond (EGLD)

Different coins use different address formats, so ensure you select the correct one.

2. Address

Enter your crypto wallet address exactly as it appears in your wallet app.

Examples:
BTC:
bc1qw508d6qejxtdg4y5r3zarvary0c5xw7k6l6g0f
ETH:
0x742d35Cc6634C0532925a3b844Bc454e4438f44e
EGLD:
erd1qqqqqqqqqqqqqpgq...

If you paste the wrong address format for the chosen coin, the transaction may fail — so double-check.

3. Amount

Optional.
This sets the exact amount of crypto the user will send.

Examples:
0.005 BTC
0.2 ETH
1.5 EGLD

If you leave this empty, users can choose the amount manually.

How to find your wallet address

From a crypto wallet app

  • Open your wallet (Binance, Coinbase, Trust Wallet, Ledger, MetaMask, Maiar, etc.)
  • Select Receive
  • Choose the coin
  • Copy the address shown

From an exchange

  • Go to Wallet → Deposit
  • Choose your coin
  • Copy your deposit address

Important

Networks matter.
For example, Ethereum addresses cannot receive Bitcoin, and BTC address types (Legacy, SegWit, Taproot) differ.
Always verify you’re copying the correct chain.

Common uses

Crypto QR Codes are useful for:

  • Donations (websites, streams, events)
  • Invoice payments
  • Freelancers accepting crypto
  • Merchants with crypto checkout
  • Personal payments between friends or family
  • Creators and online profiles (Instagram bio, X, YouTube)
  • Physical stores adding “Pay with Bitcoin” signage

They remove manual entry errors and make sending crypto instant.

Limitations

  • Users need a crypto wallet app installed
  • Wrong network or wrong coin = failed transaction
  • Static QR Codes cannot be edited after printing
(Use a dynamic QR if your wallet address changes over time)

Best practices

  • Always double-check the address before generating
  • Use the right coin + chain
  • Consider adding a small label like “Scan to pay with Bitcoin”
  • Test the QR with a tiny test transaction
  • Use dynamic if you rotate wallet addresses for privacy

A Crypto Payment QR Code makes sending crypto fast, safe, and frictionless with one scan.
