Email QR Code
What it is, how it works, and when to use it
An Email QR Code opens the user’s email app with a new message already prepared. When someone scans it, their device automatically fills in your email address, and you can choose to prefill the subject line and message body.
This is useful when you want people to send a clear, structured email without typing everything themselves. Perfect for support, booking requests, quotes, complaints, or quick feedback.
It works on all modern phones and laptops that have an email client installed.
How to create an Email QR Code
When you open the Email QR generator on SQR, you’ll see three fields:
1. Email address
The address where incoming emails will be sent.
Example:support@yourbusiness.com
Make sure the address is correct, because this can’t be edited after printing.
2. Prefilled email subject
Optional.
This sets the subject line that appears in the user’s email draft.
Useful for organizing messages or routing them automatically.
Examples:
- “Booking request”
- “Support ticket – urgent”
- “Feedback about my order”
3. Prefilled email message
Optional.
This fills in the first lines of the email. It helps guide the user to send the exact info you need.
Examples:
- “Hi, I’d like to book a table for…”
- “I’m experiencing an issue with…”
- “My order number is…”
When the QR is scanned, their email app opens with all fields ready. All they need to do is hit Send.

Email QR Codes are great for:
- Customer support messages
- Booking or reservation requests
- Complaints and warranty claims
- Quote requests for services
- Event or workshop questions
- Feedback and reviews
- Contact details on flyers, posters, packaging, business cards
They reduce friction and save users time by removing the need to type.

(Use a dynamic QR if the address may change)
Best practices

- Keep the prefilled subject clear and short
- Only prefill a message if it helps the user
- Add a small label like “Scan to email us”
- Test on iPhone, Android and desktop
